Mickel Adzema says:
When Bush came out with a program to benefit corporations at the expense of the environment he called it “The Clean Air Act.”
This analysis is highly reminiscent. This is nothing but right wing —
probably corporate paid for misinformation — propaganda that is
masquerading as rational thought by linking itself to legitimate social
science.
If the propagandists weren’t already determined who their targets were
they might have actually done some actual “American thinking” and
realized that the cargo cult phenomenon has its greatest current
corollaries in the tea-bagger movement.
And by the way, though everything the tea-baggers do is the opposite of
what they say (they are all for eliminating liberty, democracy, and
justice in favor of bringing down the Constitution to oust Obama and
overturn a legitimate election without a scintilla of basis for
impeachment, in favor of letting the corporations take over our
democracy and eliminate the power of our vote, in favor of shutting up
and even killing people they don’t believe in while they claim to be
expressing THEIR right of free speech, they use racist imagery similar
to that of the Ku Klux Klan while espousing liberty (Whites only
liberty, which is apartheid, at minimum), and so on).
And while Obama and his administration are said here to not be
costuming themselves the way cargo cult enthusiasts, pathetically, do;
you can’t say that the tea-baggers aren’t pathetically costumed!
Moreover, their dressing up as the Statue of Liberty or a Revolutionary
War Patriot while espousing tyrannical policies is exactly the kind of
inexact behavior we see among cargo cultists: Neither can the
indigenous peoples cause planes to land by building pseudo runways nor
by pasting twigs on their ears to look like the headgear of traffic
controllers, nor can the teabaggers bring justice, liberty, or
democracy back to America by dressing up like idiots while they carry
out the wishes of the corporations who want nothing from the “common
man” but his (her) money.

Cargo Cult President (updated)
I
think the educational and psychological studies I mentioned are
examples of what I would like to call cargo cult science. In the South
Seas there is a cargo cult of people. During the war they saw airplanes
with lots of good materials, and they want the same thing to happen
now. So they’ve arranged to make things like runways, to put fires
along the sides of the runways, to make a wooden hut for a man to sit
in, with two wooden pieces on his head to headphones and bars of bamboo
sticking out like antennas — he’s the controller — and they wait for
the airplanes to land. They’re doing everything right. The form is
perfect. It looks exactly the way it looked before. But it doesn’t
work. No airplanes land. So I call these things cargo cult science,
because they follow all the apparent precepts and forms of scientific
investigation, but they’re missing something essential, because the
planes don’t land.
